Learning Other Languages
by Disassociated Lady 2 inthe jw org keeps its servants busier than ever these days so that their minds are occupied 24/7.
they ensure that there is no time for anything "worldly" to distract them.. in last week's watchtower article on spiritual health they are putting pressure on the congregation to learn other languages on top of everything else they do.
they allude to the fact that their spiritual health will suffer if they cannot understand the talks and publications in other languages.

I can se your point "Scratch Me" but going back to a congregation for 5 months I saw a huge change in the way things are done. I think that congregations can vary too, the one I attended seemed stricter than the one my parents attend. Depends upon the elders you get whether they are "old school" or not. :-) x

JW Apprentice in Hair Salon.
by Disassociated Lady 2 inmy hairdresser warned me that he had taken on a jw apprentice and asked me what i thought.
she attends the kh that disfellowhipped me.
i told him that i would have to be careful about what i said concerning my personal life as she would report back anything she heard to the elders.

The owner of the salon visited my home today. He told me that this apprentice told him that I tried to come back to the JWs but got disfellowshipped because I wouldn't conform! She was not aware that I was raised in the JWs either. She had the cheek to refer to me as "strange" to the owner who is a friend of mine. So she has told him information that has been fed to her and then presents him with a JW video on their website about the "sin of gossiping"!!!!!!!!
From what he has told me she is having a difficult time being out in the big wide world, his beauty therapist contacted him from the salon saying that the apprentice ran out of the building crying so I am not sure what that is all about. Not sure if she will still be there when I go to my next appointment.

There was also emphasis on teaching children languages as their interest may fade otherwise???
In the UK we are seeing more people from other lands moving here, so there are more congregations for different languages now, so that would be one reason for it. Its the pressure put on members and they way these things are worded ...so manipulative! :-/ xxx

I am a massage and beauty therapist, but was not back in the JWs long enough to find out if they would not want me to massage men and bikini wax women...mind you many men now have a wax known as the "back, sack and crack" (excuse the phrase) I wonder if they would let their "sisters" perform treatments like that!!! :-D xxx

Shirley W "Glad he also made her put up the Christmas decorations, did you ask him if she complained when he asked her to do that?"
The owner told me that she agreed to do it only if he did not tell her family!
She has only recently been baptized as I watched it when I attended a convention earlier this year. Her parents are very strict didn't even want her to have her fringe cut as they didn't want her to look to grown up.
I saw her walking through the town today, she passed me and looked away. I am looking forward to seeing the owner tomorrow to find out if she has been digging for information of it anything else was said since my appointment :-) x

Stepford Children
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini watched this movie for the first time today and i noticed some disturbing similarities with the personalities of jws.
the way they train their children and wives so they become robots to serve jehovah, but most importantly of all, to make their husbands and fathers look good and boost their egos.
if you haven't watched this movie or stepford wives, take a look.

There was one girl who's Dad was an elder and she was the only child. She sat between her parents at every meetings, gave amazing comments and there was never a time she was taken outside for a good spanking! My sister and I were frequently take outside for that, including a few other children we mixed with (none of them are JWs now) but the "good child"still attends with her children and sits with her parents. Some thing never change!
When I had contact with my family recently it was as if I had gone back in time. They were all exactly the same as I remembered, just older. There was no sign of moving forward and life development, whereas I had been many places and experienced so many things that have changed me as a person. My family assume I have not changed because they haven't! It is so strange. :-O xxx

I am DF, the elders made sure of it as they don't like the fact I live in the same house as someone who's occupation was a witch (retired now). I cannot afford to move out and get a place of my own and received no help from them so DF was the answer. I was DA and got reinstated last March and was DF within 5 months. I don't want them knowing what goes on in my personal life and reporting back to my mother. If the JWs didn't like the fact she had to speak to me they may get her to avoid being there during my next appointment. We shall see.
She is a teenage girl who has a father that walks around like a frightened rabbit. The hairdresser told me that the girl's mother didn't want her hair cut because she would look to grown up. Mind you this young girl was wearing facial cosmetics and does not when she attends the Kingdom Hall.
I think that she agreed to put up the decorations providing her boss didn't tell anyone. He told me though! :-) x

Wriggling Like A Worm On A Hook???

Just been reading this week's study article for the JWs:
"
IMAGINE that an experienced guide is leading you on a tour of a wondrous and beautiful city. The city is new to you and to those with you, so you hang on to the guide’s every word. At times, you and your fellow tourists wonder excitedly about some of the city’s features that you have not yet seen. When you ask your guide about such things, however, he withholds his comments until key moments, often just when a certain sight is coming into view. In time, you grow ever more impressed with his wisdom, for he tells you what you need to know right when you need to know it.
2 True Christians are in a situation similar to that of the tourists. We are eagerly learning about the most wondrous of cities, “the city having real foundations,” the Kingdom of God. (Heb. 11:10) When Jesus was on earth, he personally guided his followers, leading them to a deeper knowledge of that Kingdom. Did he answer all their questions and tell them everything about that Kingdom at once? No. He said: “I still have many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them now.” (John 16:12) As the wisest of guides, Jesus never burdened his disciples with knowledge that they were not prepared to handle.
3 Jesus spoke the words recorded at John 16:12 on the final night of his earthly life. After his death, how would he continue to teach faithful people about God’s Kingdom? He assured his apostles: “The spirit of the truth . . . will guide you into all the truth.” * (John 16:13) We may think of the holy spirit as a patient guide. The spirit is Jesus’ means of teaching his followers whatever they need to know about God’s Kingdom—right when they need to know it.
4 Let us consider how Jehovah’s holy spirit has been guiding sincere Christians into greater knowledge about that Kingdom. First, we will consider our understanding of when God’s Kingdom began to rule. Then, we will examine the identity and hopes of the Kingdom’s rulers and its subjects. Finally, we will see how Christ’s followers gained a clearer understanding of what loyalty to the Kingdom requires.
As we saw in Chapter 2 of this book, the Bible Students spent decades pointing out that the year 1914 would be significant in fulfilling Bible prophecy. However, at that time they believed that Christ’s presence had begun in 1874, that he had begun to rule in heaven in 1878, and that the Kingdom would not be fully set up until October 1914. The harvest would extend from 1874 to 1914 and would culminate in the gathering of the anointed to heaven. Do mistaken ideas such as these cast doubt on whether Jesus was guiding those faithful ones by means of holy spirit?
6 Not at all! Think again of our opening illustration. Would the premature ideas and eager questions of the tourists cast doubt on the reliability of their guide? Hardly! Similarly, although God’s people sometimes try to work out details of Jehovah’s purpose before it is time for the holy spirit to guide them to such truths, it is clear that Jesus is leading them. Thus, faithful ones prove willing to be corrected and humbly adjust their views.—Jas. 4:6.
7 In the years following 1919, God’s people were blessed with more and more flashes of spiritual light. (Read Psalm 97:11.) In 1925, a landmark article appeared in The Watch Tower, entitled “Birth of the Nation.” It laid out convincing Scriptural evidence that the Messianic Kingdom had been born in 1914, fulfilling the prophetic picture of God’s heavenly woman giving birth, as recorded in Revelation chapter 12. * The article further showed that the persecution and trouble that came upon Jehovah’s people during those war years were clear signs that Satan had been hurled down from heaven, “having great anger, knowing that he has a short period of time.”—Rev. 12:12.
8 How important is the Kingdom? In 1928, The Watch Tower began to stress that the Kingdom was more important than personal salvation by means of the ransom. Indeed, it is by means of the Messianic Kingdom that Jehovah will sanctify his name, vindicate his sovereignty, and carry out all his purposes regarding mankind.
9 Who would rule with Christ in that Kingdom? Who would be the earthly subjects of that Kingdom? And what work should occupy Christ’s followers?"

My hairdresser warned me that he had taken on a JW apprentice and asked me what I thought. She attends the KH that disfellowhipped me. I told him that I would have to be careful about what I said concerning my personal life as she would report back anything she heard to the elders. The plus side is that she could be a hard and honest worker.
I attended my latest appointment 4 days ago and she was there. To my surprise she was polite, took my coat, offered me a cup of tea etc. When she went to use the bathroom my hairdresser had informed her I was coming in and he reminded her that in the salon ALL customers should be treated the same. I could tell that she hated having to do it by the look she gave me as I left. I also heard from the owner that she put up the salon Christmas decorations and asked him not to mention this to her sister! I can imagine a full report went back to the elders concerning my visit! It will be interesting to see what happens next time :-) xxx
